Faehrhaus Meissen B&B

The art of living

Welcome to a beautiful corner of the world!

Meissen is a very special place. Nestled into the sun-drenched Elbe Valley, the town boasts a unique heritage – one rich in history and steeped in old-world craftsmanship. For 300 years the town has been famous for its beautiful, world-renowned Meissen porcelain.

Here, on the shores of the river Elbe with a stunning view of the mighty Albrecht Castle and Meissen Cathedral, we have found the perfect place for our small, family-run guesthouse. We consider it, in fact, the traditional B&B re-invented.

Built in 1816, the historic building initially served as a ferryman’s house and played an important role in the town’s history. Today, the adjacent guesthouse combines old-world hospitality with colourful and eclectic interior design. It is a place where comfort and cosiness meet design, art and modern living.

We hope to see you when you feel like having a private retreat or a short break, and we look forward to making your stay in Meissen and the Dresden area a memorable one.

Throughout the house you will find more than a thousand pieces of artwork by Fedder Paulsen. Whether it be the vibrantly hand-painted tiles in the bathrooms, the abundant floral paintings or the lovingly decorated porcelain pieces – they all pay tribute to Fedder’s love of flowers and nature. Each piece has thoughtfully been chosen to make every room a unique masterpiece. All rooms are equipped with high-quality boxspring beds and hand-carved Gustavian furniture. Bespoke English fabrics in an exciting range of colours by Designers Guild and design classics such as Vitra chairs and Gubi and George Nelson lamps complete the look of contemporary design and individual style.

All rooms feature a flatscreen TV and direct dial phone. All include a private bathroom equipped with exclusive MOLTON BROWN amenities.

In addition, complimentary coffee and a fine selection of high-class SAMOVA teas are available 24/7 in our pantry kitchen.

Two rooms are at ground level and readily accessible by wheelchair. They both have direct access to the green patio and feature an additional private patio. One of these rooms has a special wheelchair-friendly interior.

Onsite parking is available.

Our breakfast

Germany’s favourite meal

A typical German breakfast is a lot about bread and buns, and cheese and cold cuts – but not only: We also serve a wide selection of home-made jams and spreads, a delicious and wholesome Bircher musli and granola, and an every day fresh fruit salad. All ingredients, in fact, are fresh and many are of local origin. Egg dishes such as various omelettes and poached eggs are made to order. On top of all this, we treat you with a wide range of coffee specialties and teas of the finest quality.

And, as a special bonus, our breakfast is served on the beautiful “Cosmopolitan” Meissen porcelain, a reminiscence of the Bauhaus era.

The passion for floral art has always been part of Fedder’s life. Come share with him the beauty of his artwork – hand-painted tiles, plates and vases as well as colourful (mural) paintings and panelling are yet to be discovered.
